Strategic Problem
During a phase of rapid business growth, Vista faced an influx of major product launches that outpaced internal training capacity. Compounding the challenge, Instructional Design was an emerging discipline in the local market, making experienced talent scarce. The business needed a scalable solution to:
-
Bridge the Capacity Gap: Rapidly expand training output without overwhelming senior designers.
-
Standardize Quality: Ensure consistent, high-standard learning assets across all business lines.
-
Build Agility: Prepare the workforce for emerging digital and remote learning needs.
My Role & Responsibilities
As the program architect and operational strategist, I held end-to-end accountability for the program's lifecycle, managing the intersection of talent acquisition, curriculum design, and operational performance quality.
-
Program Architecture & Strategy: Authored formal job descriptions, engineered selection criteria, and mapped out the strategic milestone roadmap for the talent pipeline.
-
Curriculum & Knowledge Engineering: Designed the foundational workshop series and architected a centralized, searchable knowledge base to serve as a single source of truth for design compliance and standard operating procedures.
-
Governance & Mentorship Structure: Built and managed a cross-functional pairing matrix matching incoming talent with tenured designers to drive technical competency across operational domains.
-
Quality Calibration & Closed-Loop Performance: Engineered performance rubrics and data gathering loops to continuously audit outputs, evaluate learning effectiveness, and optimize the curriculum based on real-world performance gaps.
Process & Approach
Core Strategy: Establish robust instructional systems and operational infrastructure up front to compress onboarding timelines, eliminate downstream rework, and ensure flawless execution at scale.
-
Front-End Task & Needs Analysis: Conducted a comprehensive task and pipeline analysis to identify the instructional delivery methods required for enterprise product launches. Used these outputs to define the specific technical skills and authoring tools interns needed training on, aligning talent development directly with operational demand.
-
Strategic Planning & Governance (Jira & Confluence): Designed agile Kanban roadmaps in Jira and built a centralized Confluence knowledge base to establish clear milestones, standardize SOPs, and streamline communication between interns, senior mentors, and business stakeholders.
-
Rapid Prototyping & Quality Benchmarking (Adobe & Storyboarding): Created standardized UX/UI wireframes, media templates, and structural storyboards, setting clear quality benchmarks early so interns could build confidently against established enterprise standards.
-
Capacity Building & Iterative Mentorship (Articulate 360 & Vyond): Led hands-on coaching and structured peer reviews as interns authored courses in Articulate 360 and built Vyond scenario-based animations—doubling production output while driving individual skill development.
-
Closed-Loop QA & Performance Analytics (360Learning): Configured the 360Learning ecosystem and testing environments, establishing automated analytics dashboards and closed-loop QA checks to monitor intern output, track learner completion metrics, and ensure zero-defect deployment.
Experience the Project
Business Impact & Operational ROI
100% Expansion in ID Team Capacity: Scaled core Instructional Design execution capacity by 100% (expanding active instructional design capacity from 3 to 6 dedicated team members), absorbing massive product launch spikes without external contractor spend or senior burnout.
100% On-Time Project Delivery: Expanded content creation capacity exponentially, ensuring that every major enterprise product and feature launch was supported with complete, high-quality training packages on schedule.
Zero-Defect Quality Baseline: Standardized design rubrics and closed-loop QA reviews maintained an uncompromised level of quality across all newly authored learning assets.
Operational Resiliency & Rapid Digital Pivot: As remote work mandates continued throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, this newly skilled, digitally fluent team was uniquely positioned to act. They rapidly converted traditional classroom training into self-paced digital micro-learning—keeping the enterprise informed, aligned, and operationally ready without business disruption.
